Has anyone applied to be a writer for the NYT's new on-line service? I passed the on-line writing tests, and now I'm being asked to submit info (back account #; SS or Tax ID #) for payment and tax purposes. (This is all before I've been asked to write anything). I just feel a little paranoid about sending this info...has anyone else done this yet? Thanks

That's how I've been paid as a print freelancer. Speeds up the checks so I like it. You don't have to do direct deposit if you don't want to give a bank account number.

Make sure you hang on to your password to log in. On the print side there's often a gap between acceptance and publication, and once published you'll need to log in to get paid.

are you writing for about? or the new consumer service?
