| weiss | Posted 5/14/2008 8:57:40 PM | show profile | email poster Hi there, I work for company that makes for a great story within lifestyle, home organization, decorating, and/or family. ScanDigital is an innovative service that specializes in converting prints, negatives, slides, video, and reel to reel film to digital format, allowing customers to effortlessly preserve, organize, backup, and enjoy their old memorabilia again. We also offer a Digital Photo Frame that comes pre-loaded with 2,000 of their favorite new and old photos, a perfect fit into hip home decor. I'd like to here your suggestions and input. Do you know any freelance writers that may be interested in this story? Any ideas of better ways to pitch? All feedback is welcome. Thanks! |

Any ideas of better ways to pitch? >>Any ideas of better ways to pitch?<< So far as I can see, there isn't a story. There's a company providing services that already are available. If you point out what the story is, you'll have a better pitch. |
| weiss | Posted 5/15/2008 2:36:35 PM | show profile | email poster I see your point, maybe I should be focusing on the stories behind our service when pitching. Like the woman who preserved all of her photos before her home burned down during the Malibu fires, or the man who converted his dying father's images and home movies to assure him that future generations will see them. Should I receive more detail from these types of clients before pitching? |
| Louisewasnothalfbad | Posted 5/15/2008 3:36:38 PM | show profile Pitching human interest is one way--another is "treasures" that might have been lost otherwise. Admitted, the recent Marilyn Monroe sex movie story had a film icon and sex (two attention grabbers), but if you had a client who'd found a home movie her dad shot of the Hollywood Christmas parade with some old stars--well, that's history! ScanDigital saved it! Also, the film preservation world and Home Movie Day are always interested in preserving these materials, so maybe you can join forces with them. Check out the Assoc. of Moving Image Archivists. |
| weiss | Posted 5/16/2008 1:10:48 PM | show profile That's a good idea, however, it may be tricky to approach customers about what we found in their personal material. Maybe we could do a promotion or contest or something for the best story or best saved piece of material. Maybe that would be a good way for customers to come forward with these 'treasures.' Thanks for the idea! |
