Hi!

I?m working on a piece for a nationwide senior living website and need your help!

My article focuses on seniors 55+ who adopt animals, and the impact on their lives. I?m looking to interview animal rescue groups who operate programs to help those over 55 years of age adopt a companion, and the benefits that such an arrangement has on both the person and the animal, whether mentally, physically, or both.

I?m on a tight deadline, so any help you could offer will be much appreciated!

Best,
Susan

I did an article a while back and included some info like this. If you contact any organization directly, they will be thrilled to talk to you... they love getting the word out.

Good luck!

Are people really considered seniors at 55? That seems so young. I would think 65 and over.

My grandfather is 91 and just adopted two cats last year...through the local animal shelter. He loves having them around, great idea for older people who are alone.

Thanks to you both!

Though I personally don't consider 55 to be of 'senior age,' my client does...

Great story about your grandfather! Thanks!

KittyKind did a senior citizens adopting senior cats event in NYC that was written up on Cat Sitter in the City.

Your client is hindering you by deciding that people who are 55 are seniors. Most people that age don't consider themselves as such, and aren't likely to flock to a site that does.

my father had two cats in his assisted living facility, but alas, after he declined he couldn't take care of them ..we had to remove them and it was a nightmare trying to find homes for two elderly cats made worse by the fact that he really loved them. A few years later he didnt' remember he even had them, though.
