| HisGirlFriday | Posted 5/23/2008 1:03:34 PM | show profile Ok. I'm not sure I can see "The Visitor," I just watched the preview on IMDB and I'm an emotional wreck .... |
| Bleak Spouse | Posted 5/23/2008 1:25:35 PM | show profile good lord. i just looked at Righter's photo and literally lost my breath for a second. groov: I agree. The actress who played Tarek's mom was fantastic. I liked the part where she knocks on Walter's door in the middle of the night and then tells him the truth. |
| df | Posted 5/23/2008 2:11:59 PM | show profile okay, here we go Hi so this it it: http://images.kodakgallery.com/photos4072/1/65/19/39/58/7/758391965110_0_ALB.jpg and now I am going to look at all of you ;-) |
| df | Posted 5/23/2008 2:35:37 PM | show profile okay, now I looked at everyone... such a curious nature we all have as media people, wow wow wow! If we ever get our meet in person s#@! together, I guess we'd make a pretty dam attractive group. As I always say, not (only) pretty, no - smart! |
| sue ellen mischke | Posted 5/23/2008 2:56:08 PM | show profile df, i thought you were a guy! very glam.... |
| FeaturesGal | Posted 5/23/2008 3:25:42 PM | show profile Okay I'll play. But His Gal Friday outed herself because I KNOW YOU. Well, on the 'net, but that's close enough. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/245/516945657_498dba5723.jpg?v=1180310847 |
| sue ellen mischke | Posted 5/23/2008 3:28:53 PM | show profile Features is Winona Ryder? |
| Nikongirl | Posted 5/23/2008 3:31:38 PM | show profile | email poster VR.... >>BYW --- I'll be in Toronto the weekend after next for my cousin's wedding. Hope it warms up by then!<< Send me an email, I have enabled my email so you can contact me and I'll give you my phone number in case you have time for a coffee. I'm in the Annex area of Toronto. Now we will recognize each other too! |
| FeaturesGal | Posted 5/23/2008 3:34:40 PM | show profile Yes, I have a penchant for Johnny Depp and "putting" things in my purse. |
| pamelabeth | Posted 5/23/2008 3:43:52 PM | show profile i imagined janet with red hair. you are all stunning! i, too, am worried about stalkers and/or personal info, but maybe i'll get over it and post a photo this weekend. |
| ferdinand | Posted 5/23/2008 3:57:55 PM | show profile this mass unveiling is seriously one of the nicest sweetest things ever. well, maybe not ever, but it's really sweet. df, i thought you were a guy too! -lurker and v occasional poster |
| df | Posted 5/23/2008 4:05:10 PM | show profile sue ellen, that was one of the fun things...i think a bunch of people thought so. I guess taking the visual away does make a huge difference in how you perceive someone and we have a bigger tendency to fall into gender traps of perception which only shows how bogus all of it is! When I meet new people in person (for biz or whatever) the disconnect is even bigger - I speak English with a really heavy accent, and that plus being a female prone to wear designer clothes and be all made up, lets many of my 'opponents' at the first encounter believe I am just another 'chick,' waiting to be servicey (I retract from the more sexist remarks about my accent and where they normally here them). Which just shows how much we determine not by the content but by the surroundings of the content. |
| df | Posted 5/23/2008 4:14:00 PM | show profile its the time to be open: very interesting cover article in this weekends NYT magazine by emily gould - former gawker editor and of jimmy kimmel attack fame, about how open one should be on the web. and I guess we are all trend setters - or not, depending on which side you take. Anyway this seems to be the season... to reveal. happy long weekend to all of you, the piece and the gawker uproar are worth reading and will make an amusing cyber read for the time off. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/25/magazine/25internet-t.html?ex=1369281600&en=32dd415ebcbb575b&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink http://gawker.com/tag/emily-gould/ |
| Righter | Posted 5/23/2008 4:27:17 PM | show profile df, I thought you were a guy too, though I think it had more to do with your screen name. I don't know why some just sound more feminine or masculine than others, but again, I think it has to do with our perspectives of gender. It's nice to be surprised on these boards. bleak, thanks :) Features, I love the lighting in your picture! |
| writesonwater | Posted 5/23/2008 4:38:05 PM | show profile | email poster Hmmm. Handsome bunch. My pic, such as it is, is on my blog. |
| caitlinkelly | Posted 5/23/2008 4:41:08 PM | show profile VR, sounds like I will just miss you when I am in Toronto,May 31-June 6...nikongirl, maybe coffee? |
| caitlinkelly | Posted 5/23/2008 4:47:50 PM | show profile I get a real kick out of VR's childhood photo....Two of the few I have of me at that age are one of me reading a magazine and one with a typewriter in the background... Help me, the ignorant, to understand why revealing one's photo puts you at any greater risk than...than what? I use my real name so could (hasn't happened here yet) get stalked much more easily than a photo without a clue where that person lives or works, no? Now, having seen every photo, it's quite astonishing what a good-looking crew this is. Righter is a dead ringer for a young friend of mine in Toronto. Thanks for y'all being brave. I, too, was sure df was male. |
| writesonwater | Posted 5/23/2008 4:48:36 PM | show profile http://writingporch.blogspot.com/ as I said, my pic, such as it is, is on my blog. How fun to see everyone's pics! A lot of surprises there! |
| Nikongirl | Posted 5/23/2008 5:05:47 PM | show profile Caitlin.... Yes, of course, would love to grab a bite, coffee or even drinks and catch up from last fall. Do you still have my phone numbers? If not email me and I'll give them to you. Look forward to seeing you. NG |

| voracious reader | Posted 5/23/2008 6:34:26 PM | show profile caitlinkelly...sorry I'll miss you in Toronto. We could have had a toast to our shoulder surgeries! Hope you're feeling better! How about posting your childhood photos? I knew my MB friends would get a kick out of mine, just like the rest of my friends have! |
| Nikongirl | Posted 5/23/2008 7:00:31 PM | show profile Cool shot Chucho! How did you get it to come up on theMB site? |
| nandy | Posted 5/23/2008 11:36:00 PM | show profile OK, here's my photo. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn81/npdanahy/Nancy.jpg |
| writesonwater | Posted 5/24/2008 12:21:42 AM | show profile Great pic, Nandy. You all realize, of course, this mass outing of visible identities is unprecedented? I'm impressed with people having the nerve to "go public." |
| writesonwater | Posted 5/24/2008 12:45:49 AM | show profile | email poster A few general observations: Bleak, I never thought of you as a handsome divil, but I do now.
