Have you ever been blown away by the kindness of a stranger towards you? Not blown away, but appreciative many times. 3. Have you ever been blown away by the cruelty of a stranger towards you? No 4. What do you feel compelled to do each day even though you don't really enjoy doing it? Poop, wipe, flush, etc. 5. If you believe in a higher power/god, what do imagine he/she/it looks like? There might be a higher intellegence or God, but I don't believe in an anthropomorphic being that rewards the good and punishes the wicked. 6. In what ways are you a snob? I prefer Sam Adams to Budweiser. 7. Have you ever gotten sick on an amusement park ride? I only go on the kiddie rides. 8. Have you ever taken a restraining order/order of protection out against a person? No 9. Would you ever pose nude for a national publication? No, but I would like to be the photographer that shoots all the willing MBers. Maybe on a trampoline? 10. How many people have told you they love you this week? Not many ~Bonus Question~ If you viewed the photos in Bleak's "what the hell do you look like" thread, were you surprised at what your fellow MB posters look like? The one I saw was really nice. |

Have you ever been blown away by the kindness of a stranger towards you? Maybe not blown away, but certainly appreciative. 3. Have you ever been blown away by the cruelty of a stranger towards you? no...but I've been blown away by people's capacity to be cruel. 4. What do you feel compelled to do each day even though you don't really enjoy doing it? Unload the dishwasher and doing dishes. Driving. I hate driving lately, but I have to sometimes. Oh and checking craigslist for freelance jobs that I know are always crap. 5. If you believe in a higher power/god, what do imagine he/she/it looks like? I like the energy theory. I've never imagined a face, just a really good listener. 6. In what ways are you a snob? I can't stand it when people have no class. I don't think you need to have money to have class. By class I mean decent manners, decent (clean) appearances, and kindness. 7. Have you ever gotten sick on an amusement park ride? Nope. 8. Have you ever taken a restraining order/order of protection out against a person? Luckily no. 9. Would you ever pose nude for a national publication? I'd think real hard about that... 10. How many people have told you they love you this week? Many. I have a lot of love in my life, I'm very blessed. My fiance, my parents. My best friend, sister and cousins always remind me that they love me. ~Bonus Question~ If you viewed the photos in Bleak's "what the hell do you look like" thread, were you surprised at what your fellow MB posters look like? Yes, but I loved putting faces to everyone's names! I did expect bleak to be older, and df to be a man, and Janet to have red or brown hair and freckles. And I'd love to see Groove's picture, and everyone else that hasn't posted yet. |

Have you ever been blown away by the kindness of a stranger towards you? Glad to say I've had a few, but one in particular stands out. I was backpacking through Europe 20 years ago, and I was in Mainz, Germany, totally lost and looking for the train station. I was kind of wandering when this tiny old German man walking his little dog came by. I tried to ask him in guidebook German how to get to the station, and he spoke no English, but proceeded to buy two bus tickets, get on the bus with me (and his dog), take the bus (about 20 minute ride) to the train station, and walked me to the track I needed before waving goodbye and walking off with his dog. 3. Have you ever been blown away by the cruelty of a stranger towards you? Not too many occasions. 4. What do you feel compelled to do each day even though you don't really enjoy doing it? Waking up before 10 and the commute. 5. If you believe in a higher power/god, what do imagine he/she/it looks like? I went with the whole Chuck Heston Moses look when younger, but enveloping joyous energy seems about right. 6. In what ways are you a snob? I guess when folks aren't courteous to others that knocks them down a few notches in my eyes. 7. Have you ever gotten sick on an amusement park ride? Never hurled, but I don't do spin. 8. Have you ever taken a restraining order/order of protection out against a person? Nope. 9. Would you ever pose nude for a national publication? Not even National Geographic. 10. How many people have told you they love you this week? I'm guessing about 7--Mom, wife, 2 stepdaughters, 3 granddaughters. ~Bonus Question~ If you viewed the photos in Bleak's "what the hell do you look like" thread, were you surprised at what your fellow MB posters look like? A number of surprises. |
| keltoi2 | Posted 6/2/2008 12:12:09 PM | show profile Let me add to my answer 2 that the outpouring of kindness and concern from all you MBers truly blew me away, but, even though we've never met, I don't consider you strangers. |

| writesonwater | Posted 6/3/2008 1:32:04 AM | show profile | email poster Keltoi, I love that story about the little old man from Mainz. Once in a while, it feels good to do something second-mile in nature. The explanation I've always heard on the second-mile was that a Roman soldier could commandeer anyone to carry their pack a mile. But one mile only -- the second mile was over and above what had to be done. Common courtesy might dictate to give directions when asked. This guy's generosity was touching. What I think is great is when you do something out of the ordinary -- and the subject is grateful. That's a great feeling. Once, my husband and I had a moving sale, and we invited two impoverished single moms to come over and help themselves first to anything and everything. They had fits over simple blankets. (THis was in Minneapolis, and they didn't have adequate blankets.) One of these women came up to me years later on a return visit and thanked me. I didn't recognize her, she had done so well for herself and her baby. ------ http://writingporch.blogspot.com/ http://jlouiselarson.blogspot.com/ http://familyrootsandwings.blogspot.com/ |
