| SeeKatyWrite | Posted 6/4/2008 10:49:11 PM | show profile | email poster Still high from the girl power vibes of "Sex and the City: The Movie," I RAN to Borders on Sunday to purchase "Chasing Harry Winston" by Lauren Weisberger - you know, the woman/scorned intern who wrote "The Devil Wears Prada." I broke my "never buy hardbacks" rule and now, more than halfway into it, I. Hate. It! I can't connect to the characters and feel the storyline is stale, which is the same feeling I had with "Everyone Worth Knowing." Anyone else out there feel the same way, or actually enjoy the book? I'll return when "Top Chef" is over :) ------ ----- katy ryan editor | freelance writer | blogger www.KatyWrites.com |
| writesonwater | Posted 6/4/2008 11:26:53 PM | show profile | email poster Ah ... so in keeping with her brand name theme ... interesting. Haven't read it. After reading Prada, I'm more likely to watch the movie than buy the book. Other ideas? Burying Yves St. Laurent. (Sorry Yves) Scrambling for Vera Wang. |
| SeeKatyWrite | Posted 6/6/2008 12:34:18 AM | show profile | email poster I think what we're missing, writes, is some alliteration. Dreaming of Dolce Lusting for Louboutin or she could break into the murder-mystery genre: Dying for Dior ------ ----- katy ryan editor | freelance writer | blogger www.KatyWrites.com |
| Agirlwalksintoabookstore... | Posted 6/11/2008 12:56:04 PM | show profile I read it a little while ago, and I had mixed feelings about it. Here's my review: http://agirlwalksintoabookstore.blogspot.com/2008/06/review-chasing-harry-winston-by-lauren.html |
| Mag Girl | Posted 6/11/2008 1:10:04 PM | show profile I read The Devil Wears Prada, but for the "fictional" story, not for the writing- I didn't think she was really that great of a fiction writer. |
| seeattleme2 | Posted 6/11/2008 5:00:16 PM | show profile Secx and the City is a "An Unmarried Woman" ripoff. Rent that movie. |
| TravelPRGirl | Posted 6/11/2008 6:04:07 PM | show profile Ugh, I can't say I've her book, but I read her first two and she's definitely a pretty poor writer, IMO. Her characters are never sympathetic and all the conversations and situations seem so forced and unrealistic. If you ever read any of her interviews, she acts pretty entitled as well. |
