Any Best Selling Authors Posting Here?? Nope.
Lots of advice has come to me from this board, but the most ironic of them all is the people judging me based on my bad use of grammar and english. Newsflash people I never once said I worked as a reporter or as a writer. I do have a degree in Journalism, but my chosen career is sales. And all you pulitzer prize winning writers posting here are so arrogant about what little education you do have, you fail to see or capitalize on the story that is smacking you in the face. A british entreprenuer created a company that has grown to over 40 million largely off hiring and employing employees who can't write or communicate well yet just buy reading a two page script he enabled them to earn 30k a year, and paid a commission of 1200-1500 a month. Your so arrogant you know the difference between a noun and verb you can't take your harvard degree in english and 10000 worth of credit cards you have not maxed out and start your own magazine and become a millionaire off your language skills. Your so arrogant about your wisdom in comparisons to mine, you see no use for me in America, while a british guy figured out how to employ lesser intelligent people fulltime and earn milllions off thier efforts. your smart and wise AND FREELANCING or imprisoned to the cubicles of some soon to be merged or acquired paper publication where you will use your excellent command of the english language to hack out another embellishing resume, conning another employer to pay you just over a little of what I made. Your so typical of Americans in todays global world. All you know how to do is use your gifts to destroy, and take down, and you might do well enough to sell article after article, but you will never be remembered and honered for creating any idea that affects the masses. its so funny that the same educated masses who waste time on mediabistro gossiping about media news offered the same dead wrong advice as my 4th grade education have grandmother. "Stop reading about rich people Alim, stop reading the Inc 500. Rome wasnt built in a day. get another job."... Thank god I witnessed Tiger Woods show me what to do when my backs against the wall, and Earl Woods teach me what mindset to have when trying to do the impossible. You guys have no solutions for the children of the inner city trying to make in post slavery america. You just destroy, mock, and vote for more police to lock people like me up. You cowardly move away if I move next door, first to suburbs and now back to cities. The only time people you want to act human and nice to people like me if AFTER we overcome the obstacles you create for us, and we dominate you in sport, or inspire you with words that born into the soul of oppressed and shared with you spoiled educated brats. I got weak and shared a human moment with you, and it was worth it, because you represent the America that is dying, and the America the worlds wants to destroy. All I can hope for is that when the poors fed up finally get their nukes, my ghetto is far from your skyscraper and good job your posting online your hatred to me. The irony about 9/11 is the umemployed idiot who was at home is still walking the earth, while the educated ivy league arrogant wise man employed so well is nothing but ashes now.

I was one of those unemployed idiots on 9/11, so F you -- and 99% of slam poetry done by idiots who all speak in that same silly, contrived "black voice". So touche.

I interviewed at an upper floor of the WTC weeks earlier. I'm glad I didn't get the job. I always wondered who did and if they lived or died.

Lithium can help you with that, Alim.

Yes, and be sure to take enough of the Lithium to do the trick this time.
mkelly Posted – 6/19/2008 9:49:12 AM | show profile
Whoa, wait a minute, Alim

I'm picking you apart for your incoherence and unintelligible discourse, not just your bad grammar and sloppy spelling. Let's be accurate here. With all the flaws you have going for you, I'm sure you'd suck at any profession, from writing to sales to consulting. Please up your meds, you troll.

Schofield Media scam pay-to-play media
I'm very familiar with this company(think call center, think boiler room, think scam artists), current employees and past employees. It is a scam pay-to-play "media" company, that is routinely in violation of the Anglo-American commercial law, and currently under litigation on multiple fronts and being sued by innumerable companies. It is within the law to lie a little when making a sales pitch, such as "oh yeah this magazine is highly respected in the _______ industry and is sure to boost sales and reputation." However, going beyond selling false dreams or impressions and to actually make up lies about the product is illegal. For example their magazine circulation numbers. The official numbers you see reported are false, they only really print out a few thousand magazines per issue (if that) and send it to the duped company being featured and the duped vendors that paid thousands upon thousand to advertise in it.
The sales team, under a bullying mgmt style(think yelling, sexual harassment, require a note from your Dr. for missing work), are accountable for meeting quotas and generating sales(duh), and given the mgmt's low educational attainment, no real job experience, and utter lack of ethics this results in all sorts of disinformation, mainly they will triple or double the official circulation numbers(which are a massive lie in themselves), anything for a sale. The sales team are really just pawns though. They work under terrible conditions and are most often high school grads or drop outs of varying age but rarely over 40 or fresh faced college grads who have just moved to the big city(Chicago) and need to pay the rent and are under the impression, at least initially, that they are selling ads for real magazines.
Given that the only thing required from new hires is that they speak fluent English, it does pay well (40k-50k is about average, but obviously some make more on commission). As stated before, this is great for those lacking real job experience, education, or qualifications for a similar salary. Profit margins are high due to the fact that A. circulation numbers are entirely faked and thus publication/distribution costs are very low B. they charge vendors between $500-40,000 for a page or quarter page or whatever...the sales team has the utmost flexibility to charge whatever, but being as they work on commission after meeting their quota they are inclined to squeeze as much out as possible ("Ill tell you what, I talked to my boss and were going to halve the cost'). C. the many magazines have the same team of writers and editors. The same puff pieces you see may also be recycled into other articles. I have never heard of them hiring a freelancer to work for them (if ever i'm sure it was in a pinch). Basically the cost of producing these terrible magazines is very cheap. There only real expenses are a big time team of lawyers and accountants.
They are a very secretive company as they operate on many assumptions that are false and take part in illegal activities. A note about those working there...most do it for the money like anyone else, however most that work there have no other options given that few if any have completed college. Now I don't believe college or high school are a prerequisite for success, the point I'm trying to make is that most of their management are completely reliant on their jobs given the life style it provides and their limited options in the workforce. Any company in Chicago that knows anything about this company will not hire you other than maybe a call center. The mgmt. team is basically recruited from the bottom of the barrel. Unintelligent, yet competent lads, competent to maintain sales and keep the company secrets under wraps. These guys are making 5-10 times what they would otherwise make on the market. This makes them insanely loyal.
Oh, and this guy, Alim20, is clearly a troll on payroll, middle management, well payed, high school grad maybe, and a slave to the company. You can't exactly blame him though. To make similar money he would actually have to develop a skill or partake on a real career. It's unfortunate, but there will always be companies and con men. This so called media company is one of many, and the business model is as old as print. Google this, "Schofield media scum" for some more insight into these type of scam companies.

Brilliant!!!
Alim, I get it.

There are a lot of plants and fake posts associated with the Schofield threads, and some very aggresive SEO activity on Schofield's behalf.

Alim is not one of them.

Alim is either a hopeless loser or a genius.

If you were management at Schofield, would you spin it like this? No, Alim's fanatical ramblings, slipshod use of the English language and pathetic begging beautifully illustrate exactly what's wrong with Schofield Media.

Bravo.

Alim is more parable than person. His story is the story of Schofield Media; seedy, secretive and destined for failure.

Did you guys notice how many times he spelled out "Schofield Media?" That's called Search Engine Optimization, and it's working. Google "Schofield Media" and it leads you here. That's how I, and potential advertisers, various Attorneys General, and everybody with a Schofield ax that needs grinding, find this post.

Well played sir.

The real question is does Schofield Media deserve this flame out thread?

Yes, absolutely.

The business model is a scam. I think we can all agree on that point, but it's the toxic work environment at Schofield Media that has earned them this, and other, threads. All sales organizations have a certain level of dysfunction, that is sales. What is going on at Schofield Media is far more sinister.

The office is awash with semiliterate, but georgeous women in their early 20's that are hired for the sole purpose of sex. Pay to play publishing with a pay to play hiring policy.

Nice.

If Schofield Media was running their scams, but treated its employees like human beings, rather than chattle, I would be the 1st person to defend them. I'm obviously not here to defend them.

Thank you Alim, for fighting the good fight and bringing attention where attention is needed.

On the outside chance that you are who you say you are and your ramblings are fact, and not in fact fiction, then wow, the educational system and society has failed you. I am sorry.

Always a pleasure, Glen!

Soz, Arlette, but if you think I'm Glen White you're as ill informed as I mentioned elsewhere!

Spectacularly so!

I worked in the sector for a couple of years, not alongside Glen or Andrew Scofield & one of the things I always found amusing was how sour the ad agencies were about profile mags, mostly because they do for free what the ad agencies charge an excessive & unjustified amount for.

I have friends on both sides of the argument, in ad agencies & in profile mags (some at White DM) & I have to say that if I was going to source PR for my current enterprise it wouldn't be via an ad agency!

Fi fi fo fum, I smell the smell of sour grapes my dear!

This posting is STUPID STUPID Guy. I'm sick of even seeing that lame title when I come here.

The original poster is really taking a beating. Maybe I'm naive but I think he's being honest. I feel sorry for him. My advice to you, Alim, is to look ahead, not behind. Any situation you are in can become a good one. If your initial dream isn't working out, tweak your dream or tweak your plan. You'll make it.

Mayfair Business Media
Chris Schofield is in Los Angeles working for Mayfair Business Media. It is part of the Redcoat Media, Ideal Media, Schofield Media troika of evil. Mayfair is owned by the Schofield brood or, should I say, their creditors.

The funny thing is that they have done everything possible to hide this fact from the marks they profile.

It reminds me of Boiler Room, when the brokerage firm has phones set up in an empty office next door so they can start over under a different name if they get busted.

Mayfair Business Media.
