| wineaux | Posted 6/19/2008 2:51:16 PM | show profile P, lilacs have just the most amazing scent. My grandmother had a huge white lilac bush when I was a kid, and the scent transcends me to her beautiful summer yard full of fruit trees, grape vines, her herb and veggie garden, and the great big oaks we used to play croquet and nap under. When I first moved back to the NE, spring bloomed and I was walking the dog in my neighborhood. I passed a gorgeous old house that had several lilac bushes in purple and white, in full bloom. I buried my face in one of the clusters breathing in contentedly, when the elderly owner caught me in the act. He clipped a huge pile of them and put them in my arms. I filled every vase in my house with them, and to my joy, right when they were about to be withered beyond return, I discovered that a bush in my front yard was a light purple lilac bush that chose to bloom that day. I felt like it was pretty serendipitious. I just wish they stayed in bloom longer. It's always too soon when they go away. |

| KC4 | Posted 6/20/2008 2:34:55 PM | show profile 1. When you Google yourself, what is the first result that comes up? I share my name with a painter and various college athletes (and a million other gals of Irish descent), but some old articles from Texas Monthly do crack the top ten. 2. Are you presently the subject of any rumors? Not really, but some friends abroad are whispering that my ex and I are getting back together because he sent our (mutual) friend a card congratulating her on her engagement. Not sure if it counts as an absolute truth, but my goal in life is to (not to sound like Robin Williams or anything) seize the day. I'd rather blow my money on travel and once-in-a-lifetime events than save it towards anything remotely practical. Bonus: Strangely, my trademark is a Dr Pepper. I'm trying to quit drinking the darn stuff, but people still tell me they saw a Dr Pepper sign and thought of me. I've also received it as gifts, or been given Dr Pepper glasses from friends. |
| HisGirlFriday | Posted 6/20/2008 5:38:45 PM | show profile jjones's post about her dog's ears being intoxicating reminded me that I actually love the way my cat's breath smells. Is that weird? And now that I know what JBE meant by "dutch oven" I can emphatically say NO and NO. |
| wineaux | Posted 6/20/2008 5:43:50 PM | show profile I don't know if that classifies as weird. Especially since I really like the smell of my dog's paws, which the husband finds hilarious. His breath, however, would be more likely on the list of hair on the back of the neck standing. |
