Do local pubs (i.e., Trib, Reader, Newcity, TimeOut) have people on-staff whose job it is mostly to write and edit the listings (jobs, dining, bars, clubs, events, etc.)? Or are these tasks typically shared among existing staffers? I would guess the latter situation is more typical, because I never find ads for listings editors, but I want to be sure I am not missing an opportunity. I wonder if prospecting emails might be worth sending. |
| chicagowriter22 | Posted 6/29/2008 1:25:51 AM | show profile I'm not sure, but Chicago Parent's listings were handled mostly by one freelance writer. Then again that was 3 years ago and (I think) under a different editor. |
| cabaraba | Posted 6/30/2008 12:24:56 PM | show profile I know that at one of the places you mentioned, editors edit listings for their specific section. i.e. the fashion editor edits only fashion listings. Generally listing are complied by editors on-staff. If I were you I'd go ahead and send prospecting emails. |
