| slashcom1 | Posted 7/1/2008 8:55:07 PM | show profile | email poster Here my situation.... A new account just landed in my lap: Acclaimed guitarist with CD release this month. Challenge: He falls into the "smooth jazz" category and wants to "break out" Any recommendations on who to pitch for some national level print interviews? (coverage beyond just cd reviews) Jazz publications eschew smooth jazz, along with most promient jazz critics. My boss sez: We were brought on for national press, so we're not looking for local coverage. Any suggestions would ideas be appreciated. Thanks in advance. - Slash |
| dmaw | Posted 7/1/2008 11:07:26 PM | show profile guitarist/cd release need interviews try some of the later night shows - like carson daly or Conan - they might pick up on it. Also Sirius Satellite Radio or XM Radio. Don't think View, Rachael Ray would take them, unless he was a household name. What about Weekend Today. They are more flexible than Today Show. Although Today Show 10 am is getting easier to book. Good luck. |
| Village Gal | Posted 7/2/2008 9:56:22 AM | show profile What is new and fresh and different about this CD or the artist? Just having released a new CD is not enough to interest most editors. What's the angle? Plus, most music editors (I used to be a music writer)would rather hear from their writers, not a publicist. So I suggest you pitch writers- with your angle- as well as editors. good luck |
