I'm sure this topic has been covered but what is the best way to break into copy-editing with limited experience.

Brush up on AP, Chicago style etc. and ace the copy test.

I am also curious about copy-editing and I have been trying to find out as much as I can about it. It seems like it's a hard field to break into and when you finally do start working as an editor the pay is pretty lousy. So it's a lot of work for very little money. Is that true in most cases or does it ultimately depend on who you are working for?
