I went to a great school and got my BA in Writing/Publishing with a Marketing minor, but ended up pursuing PR and Marketing when I got out of school. After unhappily working in marketing/pr for 3 years at a couple of different places, I realized that I was completely disregarding my passion to be a writer. I quickly left my PR job to take a freelance position contributing to a small magazine and then supplement my income doing something menial. But now that's not working out, and I need need to find a full-time Editorial Assistant position somewhere to segue into the publishing industry. I've been applying and applying for months but have heard nothing. I have a great resume and an impressive few years under my belt in marketing and PR, but I don't have the editorial internship or the experience it would take me to get into an editorial asst position. I'm willing to take an internship if that's what it takes, but no internships will take me because I'm so overqualified/not doing it for school credit!! I know I'm trying to pursue this so late in the game, so I'm basically looking for someone to say to me either "it's too late, just give it up" or "keep trying, you'll eventually find something!" Any advice?? |

Now the urge to write again is overwhelming. You are not late in the game at all. Follow your passion. Passion is worth more than $. It won't be easy. PR pays much better. But find a way to keep your passion alive. |
