I planning to learn a CMS (content management system) so that I can get a job with online/new media companies. But everytime I try to learn joomla!, drupal, or wordpress I get stuck! I learned html & css, and dreamweaver with absolutely no problems. I can't seem to learn any CMS because the seem so difficult to install and manage. Is there a simple CMS that I can learn that teaches mainly about content managment instead of blogging (like wordpress). How necessary is it for me to learn CMS, even though I know html, css, dreamwearver and photoshop?

Is this a real question? Didn't we have this exact thread, like, five weeks ago?

I don't know about the rest of the online media world, but at online adjucts to news companies, I've never heard of any hiring manager being picky on what CMS you already know. The goal is to hire someone with good news judgment and the brains to pick up whatever CMS I use quickly. Nobody gives a s--t what specific CMS you already know.

This attitude may be different for other online media companies. Or I may be getting punked.

Most of these content publishing systems are proprietary (I"ve worked on two major news sites and this is the case), and no one is expected to know them when they arrive. You're trained for a few hours when you start the job, either individucally or in a class at the company. They're all similar, so once you know one, it's not hard to grasp another.

I'm talking strictly about CMS, for editing and writing, not the things an art person might need.
