So I don't know if I'm writing this to vent or get advice but here I am (again) writing on this board.. 23 with still no job and been a year and a half out of school. I got to NY 2 weeks ago and my short term stay is up at the end of August. I figured while I was here I needed to send out my resume to top markets. (just for shits and giggles not expecting anyone would contact me) So... I did.. and I get a call from a top PR agency in Dallas this morning telling me she needs some last minute help and is willing to pay me. Of coarse this would happen to me.. I look and look and when something of a minute chance comes up I can't do it. This is the only reply I've gotten since I left LA 4 months ago. At this point I am willing to take a job ANYWHERE!! so that is why I sent out my resume all over because if there were an interview I could fly for the day and do the interview. But I also know part time help can lead to a full time job or getting new contacts. Would someone like to give me some guidance?? lol

Go where the work is. NYC is notoriously hard to break into, and if you only have a short-term lease, it's not like you're wedded to the city.

Dallas is not a bad place to cut your teeth. There are a lot of networking possibilities. People are helpful and friendly. There are definitely happening parts of town full of young professionals. there is nightlife, shopping. you could do a lot worse than dallas. Check out the Dallas Observer or its blog "Unfair Park" or D Magazine's "Front Burner" Dallas is a very easy town to crack for newcomers.

Good Luck
