Hi everyone,

I am looking to go J-school for my graduate degree in business journalism. Anyone have any insights on the best programs? And ones that are friendly to people without experience. I don't have a journalism background (unless you count the minor in journalism during my undergrad), but i have an undergrad business degree and have been working in the financial services industry for the last few years. Any insight would really help!

Thanks!
Archie

I am, of course, partial to my alma matter, University of Missouri-Columbia, which has a widely respected journalism program and is in the midst of a huge renovation to facilities. They're huge into the hands-on approach, so you'd be writing for a newspaper or magazine, reporting on the radio or broadcasting on the NBC affiliate, depending on your specialty.

What's appealing to me, personally, is that they have a newly available online program, too. I've contemplated getting my master's degree, but don't want to go back to full-time campus life and am scared to completely exit the job market given the current state of the industry. Something online would be great -- I just need to win the lottery first :)

Best of luck!!

Check out the following...

I'm also partial to Missouri, where I got my M.A. in journalism. By the way, I think they have a new low-residency graduate program for folks who have been working journalists for a while. I was switching careers, so I went to their regular M.A. program. They have pretty decent scholarships.
