| GuyArturoThomas | Posted 8/19/2008 3:39:34 AM | show profile I want to start a restaurant and travel blog (this is the part where everyone who reads this collectively sigh "another one of these"). Well I want to start one...any suggestions or tips on what to avoid? Or any other kind words of advice? |
| stephanerd | Posted 8/20/2008 5:06:55 PM | show profile | email poster As I could probably go on and on when it comes to the topic of blogging, I suppose my best bit of advice would be to start reading a blog about blogging, such as problogger.net. You'll learn everything you need to know there, and more. ------ www.freelancedom.com |

Do legit restaurant reviews, chef profiles, conduct reader votes for "best of" awards, etc. - and make sure to include graphics, etc. The local blogger here snagged the restaurant reviewer job based on her blog, and the blog is good enough that many local hotels provide her link on their websites for visitors. I have three blogs, and one led to a column and a future book deal. The others are for fun, but I still try to keep them professional. My favorite is my Writing Through Rose Colored Glasses, because I get to write all over the board - news items, personal stuff and everything in between. Good luck! |
