Do publishing houses still hire slush pile readers? Or do literary magazines ever take volunteer readers who can somehow work remotely and evaluate some of the unsolicited manuscripts? If so, how do you get these jobs? I'm bored and apparently congenitally unemployable, and I want to keep connected to literature/editing.
