Topic: A thought occurs about starting a lit mag...

I should have specified that I meant short stories that are not necessarily meant as literary fiction but simply as entertainment. As I have a vision of what kind of fiction I'd like to see more of, it's occurred to me that perhaps I should take on the huge task of starting my own online literary magazine. Does anyone have any thoughts on this crazy idea? Does it smack too much of self-publishing, for instance? What is entailed in started a lit mag? Thanks! |

The challenge becomes in getting anyone to pay attention to it. You may merely shift your frustration from having a short story in a word document that no established magazine will publish, to having your short story published on your own web site that no one reads. But I would say the more your online magazine is viewed as merely a vehicle you put together to publish your own writing, the less seriously it will be taken. |
