To all you bloggers out there, which one is better?

In my experience, WordPress occasionally develops bugs that make it hard to deal with. Fact is, my WP blog conked out on me and one day wasn't available; luckily, I'd created another one on Blogger and it went OK.

My only experience has been with blogger, but I've had the same problems; often there'll be glitches right when I want to post, or I'll lose posts, which of course can be frustrating. On the other hand, I've had friends who have had good luck with WP.

I have a dissenting opinion--I started on blogger, but eventually moved over to wordpress because they have much better (more attractive) templates. I haven't had any trouble or regrets since.

What's really great about Wordpress is that you can customize it look anyway you want it like this one: www.swellcityguide.com

...you would never think that website is by Word Press...Blogger has that annoying gravatar thing at the top.

Blogger vs. WP
I use Blogger, however after hearing about WP I attempted to switch but couldn't figure it out. Seems like WP is only for those who are familiar w/ HTML and web design b/c if not, you'll only be able to use their pre-designed templates.

No, actually Wordpress if not "Html" it's CSS.

Lola: Actually, the main thing is PHP. CSS is just a style sheet. It also uses HTML, but the thing that throws general users off is the learning curve involved with understanding PHP, the so-called hypertext pre-processor.

HTML -- basic markup language for building web pages
PHP -- the preprocessor, basically the language that assembles all the components of a web page, commonly used for blogs that have lots of components (a commenting module, a calendar module, link backs, blog rolling, etc.).
CSS -- the style sheet for any web page (the thing that tells all of your web pages to use certain colors, fonts, table alignments, etc.)

All blogs use all three of these.

To answer OP's question: it's not so much Blogger vs Wordpress, but rather whether you prefer to self-host (instal a blog onto a server of a hosting package you purchase) or use a service (sign up for a free blogging service, like Blogger).

Wordpress, hands down. Way more customizable and looks more professional. But host it with a Web host like Dreamhost using your own domain to keep your URL easy to remember AND to make upgrading to the latest version easy. Dreamhost has a one-click install/upgrade feature that I've been using for a few years. MUCH easier than wresting with manual upgrades. Blogger's fine for starting out, but eventually you'll want to graduate to something more sophisticated. If you're up for it, you might as well start with Wordpress and your own URL.

Depends
I've used both...for different purposes. For my travel blog, I had to switch it to Wordpress because Blogger was often blocked in some communist countries. Meaning I couldn't post there unless I did it through e-mail, which meant I couldn't check it. Or read comments...

I like blogger, but I agree that there are limited templates. I am sure there are ways to get around that. WordPress sounds complicated, while blogger was a cinch.
