| Deadline Done | Posted 11/18/2008 5:25:29 AM | show profile I'm a journalist and have an opportunity to work for the PR powerhouse Hill & Knowlton and I'm looking for some input. Anyone work there before? I'm just interested in the corporate culture and opportunities, pros and cons, the reputation and having Hill & Knowlton on the resume. What kind of doors may such an experience open? Has anyone gone from journalism and then worked for a mercenary multinational PR firm and then went back to journalism? What would a hiring editor think? |

However, I can speak for your other question. I've known a few people to jump from journalism to PR and back again in a given content discipline, and for the most part those people have had no trouble making the transition. Part of the advantage is that they really didn't "go away" in that they still had, and in some cases strengthened, relationships with editors throughout their PR association. Some of them actually "failed upward" each time they switched. |
