I've been offered internships with BWR, PMK-HBH, and Rogers & Cowan. I don't know which to choose. Does anyone know some pros & cons for each or have any advice?

I would say it absolutely comes down to what you want to specialize in and learn from. PMK and R&C have almost exclusively entertainment and high-profile business clients - personalities, if you will. BWR has LOST a significant portion of clients within that category and is, these days, more of a corporate and event PR firm. Still a major name but with a less shiny list of personalities.

If you want to learn more about corporate and product PR, go BWR. If you want to specialize in the (bizarre) world of celebrity PR, go PMK or R&C. You'll probably have more of a life-outside-of-work with BWR...

I would have to disagree - at least as far as the NY offices go.

BWR and PMK are both very talent driven, especially out of the ny offices. BWR is very event/corporate heavy in CA, but not NY. R&C has a MUCH smaller department than the others.

If you are looking to work in Personal PR (celebrity pr) I would go with either BWR or PMK. Both great companies. Having worked at both BWR and PMK I can tell you that you won't go wrong either way. I personally love BWR - great atmosphere and you will learn a lot. Both GREAT experiences and great for the resume.

Good luck!

Thank you guys for your input! Not sure if you know, but do you have any opinion on Anderson Group PR?

I've never worked for any of those companies, but have actually tried to work WITH them as a reporter. I hope that if you decide to go into "celebrity" PR that you don't turn out to be like 98% of the folks who work in those agencies---power-hungry, ego maniacs who can never get over themselves, though they spend most of their time wiping the rears of the folks they represent. By contrast, Lois Smith and Pat Kingsley were real pros who knew how to work effectively with the press and were polite enough to return phone calls. Good luck.
