This thread is addressed to all the international applicants who've ever applied to Columbia. Perhaps you could help.

My TOEFL score is 107. While it will get me through 99% colleges in the world, Columbia remains elusive. They are asking for 114. It's my dream j-school, and I really want to go there.

Should I apply anyway? Will they disqualify my application because I don't meet their criteria?

I would apply anyway and retake the test. By the time you're ready to attend the school, it will probably be up a few points. Does Columbia say you need a 114 when you apply or when you begin classes? That's key. Just apply--there's a big time lag between applying, acceptance and attending, and it seems you could get your score up.

This is my commonsense response. I don't have firsthand knowledge, although I am a Columbia alum, but most schools are eager for intl. students (Columbia is), and are not likely to be so rigid, especially if you score higher on a retest.
