VIZ Media is looking for a Director, Marketing to join our Sales & Marketing team!
Ability to fluently read, write and speak professionally in English A MUST.
Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) PREFERRED.
5-7 years of relevant business experience.
SUMMARY
Leads marketing team for designated VIZ Media brands to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. Plans, organizes, and executes the marketing strategy for one or more major VIZ Media properties.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Develops and oversees implementation of Marketing team strategy and direction.
2. Supervises Marketing team for assigned VIZ Media brands.
3. Supervises the marketing lifecycle process for designated brands.
4. Supervises day-to-day progress of designated brands marketing planning and execution.
5. Measures the ROI for all marketing initiatives for designated brands.
6. Creates, manages and executes the marketing plans for one or more major VIZ Media properties.
7. Ensures media mix plans are fully integrated among all relevant VIZ Media departments for designated brands.
8. Monitors and advises on designated brands P & L.
9. Supervises the management of marketing budgets for designated brands.
10. Supervises the designated brands social networking, social bookmarking, and other digital technology initiatives in coordination with the Online Marketing team.
11. Maintains brand integrity across product lines, advertising, and all internal and external communication.
12. Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, editorial, online, legal, PR, design, and operations to execute specific marketing plans for designated brands.
13. Leverages appropriate external partnerships to maximize marketing efficiencies.
14. Provides marketing recommendations for acquisitions.
15. Prepares marketing objectives and schedules for all phases of product solicitation and introduction to market including but not limited to sales materials and retail presentations.
16. Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry.
17. Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors.
18. Participates in key sales and marketing presentations as necessary.
19. Develops monthly and quarterly reports for management and licensors.
In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Ability to fluently read, write and speak professionally in English A MUST.
Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) PREFERRED.
Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys highly desired.
Skill with Internet, MS Office (strong Word/Excel skills), and other PC software.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to express self effectively and to professionally represent the company.
Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork.
Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service providers and staff.
Ability to work legally in the United States.
Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.
MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
5-7 years of relevant business experience.
Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise the work of others.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily works in an office environment. Approximately 75% of time spent on the job involves use of a computer terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, mailing machinery.
Must be available for periodic travel both domestically and internationally.

OTHER INFORMATION
