Party Photos: New York Cocktails
At Brasserie 8½, 10.08.02

Brasserie 8½ rated a 10 at mediabistro.com's latest midtown media bash. Thanks to the overstuffed leather couches and tarty appletinis, the mood was cozy. And our media guests hardly minded when I interrupted the flow of conversation to give out door prizes! Boating magazine's editor-in-chief, Randy Steele, won dinner for two at Brasserie 8½, television producer Sarah Hodder (formerly of NBC News) won a giant hatbox filled with pricey Shiseido goodies, graphic designer Arianna Tettamanzi won tickets to the hot new Broadway musical Amour, and Robert Haynes-Peterson, managing editor of the Fashion Market Group, picked up a gift certificate to Qiora Spa on Madison Avenue. While PBS producer Niki Swartz didn't win a prize, I hereby deem her the Wit of the Night for her joke, à propos her documentary project on lipstick lesbians, that "I'm not a lesbian — but I play one on reality TV." —Laurel
