Course Details

Build on your knowledge of television news reporting in this 4-week course designed as a sequel to Manoush Zomorodi's introductory TV news reporting class. Learn more about what it takes to be a good television news reporter, including: meeting deadlines, preparing and delivering "live shots," conducting on-camera interviews, and more. If you've decided to pursue a career in television journalism, but need further experience and instruction, then this course is for you. Students will get time in front of the camera, work with cameramen and technicians, and perfect their television writing skills.

In this class, you can expect to learn how to:
  • Turn around a quick script
  • Work on your "tracking" voice
  • Fix and produce packages
  • Conduct penetrating interviews
  • Report breaking news
  • Report on the scene  
  • Find a job in TV news
  • Psyche yourself up for a live shot
By the end of this class, you can expect to have:
Additional material, including a live shot, to add to your edited, professional reel, which is yours to keep after the class.

Admission Requirements:
Please submit a letter of interest (including a brief work history). No writing sample required.

Manoush Zomorodi
Manoush Zomorodi is a reporter, anchor, and host. Her stories air on Reuters Television and the BBC, and she presents many of mediabistro.com's on-demand videos. She also specializes in on-camera media training and has coached city officials, authors, and print journalists. Most recently she moderated the first Mediabistro Circus, a 2-day conference on new technology and the media.
