Course Details

You've read all the books. You've studied all the shows. You've taken all the classes. And you're still wondering: "How do I break into this thing called television?" This 7-week symposium cuts the bull, cleans up the clutter, and puts you face-to-face with the people who run the show. Literally.

Here is your chance to register for just Week #2 of the TV Symposium: Development Execs: How To Navigate Networks, Studios, and Production Companies (or Get a Job At One)—Development executives from networks, studios, production companies, and cable.

In this class—directly from the mouths of the execs who run television—you'll learn:

  • How to pitch network and studio executives
  • Who you really need to know to get a writing job
  • How networks decide what projects to buy
  • How studios work with writers to develop episodic television
  • Why great shows get cancelled and bad ones stay on the air
  • What producers and executives are dying to read... and what they're not
Panelists include:
  • Warren Littlefield, principal, Littlefield Company; executive producer, Keen Eddie (FOX), Do Over (WB), Like Family (WB), Foody Call (Style), and Love Inc. (UPN); former president, NBC Entertainment (Friends, Seinfeld, E.R., Will & Grace, and Frasier)
  • Francesca Orsi, creative executive, HBO
  • Leigh Redman, director, Drama Development, Paramount Television
