Wondering how to survive on an editorial income? Sick of biting your nails, waiting for those freelance checks to arrive?

Financial sanity awaits in this three-hour seminar designed with media professionals (and their pesky incomes) in mind. Have you resolved to get your personal finances in order but don't know where to begin? Personal finance specialist Galia Gichon, an independent lecturer (with no affiliations to investment companies!), will help demystify the process of investing and getting a handle on your finances.

You don't need to know anything about money, investing, or why the Fed does what it does. Just bring yourself, your questions, and a willingness to take the simple financial steps that will, over time, change your life.

In this seminar, you'll learn how to:

  • Create a realistic financial roadmap for the coming year
  • Set a simple budget (and stick to it!)
  • Get a grip on debt
  • Invest, even if you have very little money
  • Redirect your old 401(k) and IRA and make other plans for retirement
  • Put money aside for taxes
  • Balance your financial priorities with the realities of living in NYC
