Course Details

We've partnered with the Association of Graphic Communications to teach you everything you need to know about InDesign, the page layout program that is fast becoming the favorite of designers in the magazine business. By the end of this two-day course, you will be editorially proficient in InDesign, a declaration that will sparkle on your resume.

In this class, you can expect to learn:

  • How to use tools and palettes
  • The proper way to make text changes
  • The basics of typography
  • How to apply character and paragraph formatting
  • How to use the story editor and style sheets
  • How to adjust hyphenation and justification options
  • How to work with the Adobe Paragraph Composers
  • How to recognize common problems and find their solutions

By the end of class, you can expect to have:
Proficiency in InDesign CS2 on a Mac.

Instructor Bio

Fred Murhammer received his BFA from New York University and did post graduate studies at California Institute of the Arts. Currently, he is a New York City educator/consultant focusing on digital publishing, computer graphics, and web design. Among his clients are the Gucci Group, Taylor and Frances Publishers, Delgado Design, Conso International, Simplicity Patterns, Rosebud Music, and Private Collections, Inc. For the past ten years he has taught in the New School's Digital Media program. He has also taught for the Parsons School of Design and the Association of Graphic Communications.
