This 1-day session will go over Microsoft PowerPoint basics. Microsoft PowerPoint is used for creating presentations integrating text, charts, diagrams, and clip art pictures. Presentations are organized into "slides", usually with consistent backgrounds and font settings. PowerPoint offers features to animate a "slide show" whereby special effects can be used to add motion and sound to bulleted points and slide progressions.

The workshop will cover:

  • User interface: the Display Screen, the use of Task Panes, how to personalize Menus and Toolbars, and how to open, save, and close an existing presentation.
  • Creating Presentations: Slide Layout Task Pane, the Outline Tab; selecting, adding and deleting slides, using design templates, and the AutoContent Wizard.
  • Text: Selecting text, creating bulleted and numbered lists, using text boxes, formatting text, and using bulleted and numbered lists.
  • Formatting: manipulating slides and text, using the Slide Sorter view, the Outline Tab, and the Slide Finder; how to copy and move text, using Collect and Paste, inserting a duplicate slide, and creating a Summary Slide.
  • Editing Tools: AutoCorrect, spell check, using the Style Checker, replacing text, and using the Undo and Redo commands.
  • Objects: inserting Clip Art, managing Clips in the Clip Organizer, moving, resizing, recoloringm and modifying Clip Art
  • Viewing and Printing Presentations: Speaker Notes and how to format handouts in Microsoft Word.
