Marc Weingarten is a journalist and author in Los Angeles. For the past decade or so (but who's counting?) he has contributed stories about music, books, theatre, technology, travel, television, and movies to the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, Washington Post, New York Observer, San Francisco, Entertainment Weekly, I.D., San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. He is the author of two books: Station to Station, a finalist for the Ralph J. Gleason award for best music book of the year and an L.A. Times bestseller, and The Gang That Wouldn't Write Straight: Wolfe, Thompson, Didion and the New Journalism Revolution. He is currently working on a book about Los Angeles and water for Penguin.
