Course Details

Sure, it sounds glamorous, but what exactly does a TV news producer do? To what extent is the producer the author of the piece he or she is working on? How many people work on a piece? How much authority does the producer have? And how does one go about producing? To be a great news producer, you have to really love the job. How else are you going to keep crazy hours? Have a miniscule social life? Drop everything when news breaks on your vacation?

In this seminar, you'll learn what a job in news production involves, if it's the right career for you, and if so, how to get your foot in the door of an exciting and rewarding profession.

In this seminar, you'll also learn:
  • What producers do
  • How to find a story, do research, and set up a shoot
  • What field producing is
  • How writing a broadcast news script differs from print journalism
  • What makes a news script great
  • How to write to picture
  • How to break in
