Course Details

We all fear that dreaded "next step." We dedicate so much time to a project that we fear life without it. What happens after we get the promotion, the book deal, or close the sale? We "accidentally" delete a finished document, forget an important appointment with an agent or editor, inadvertently send an incriminating email to the wrong person, or start a piece brilliantly and then inexplicably stall out. Why do we shoot ourselves in the foot just when things are going our way? Even more important, how can we stop?

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • To pinpoint the real conflicts behind your ambivalence about success
  • How to address these issues separately, so they don't affect your work
  • To identify triggers for unconscious self-sabotage, and modify your responses
  • How to develop the habit of triple-checking your output
  • The importance of cultivating a "success buddy" who will watch your back
  • How to recover from an embarrassing mistake or setback, and get back on course

Testimonials

Susan's class should be right up there with Lamaze classes as a must for all expecting mothers who are also writers. She has armed me with practical advice so I can avoid shortchanging my family or my career - and the permission to let myself off the hook if I do. Now I'm looking forward to the birth of my child and the start of my new life! -- Lauren Snyder

"I wanted to hear what it was like to be a mother and writer and I ended up hearing what I needed to hear most. There's no way I can do it all, but now I have a few ideas about how I can get some help along the way." -- Susan Hodara
