Course Details

Aspiring authors often spend as much time worrying about getting representation as they do writing their books. The truth is, there are scores of agents out there, and landing one is nowhere near as hard as it seems -- even if you have no publishing connections. In this seminar, you'll learn how to find the perfect agent for your novel or nonfiction book, how to know when your book is ready to send out, and how to write a professional-sounding query letter. We'll also discuss the do's and don'ts for dealing with agents, and what you can realistically expect when you sell a book.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • How to find agents who specialize in books like yours
  • The five-second tweak that will make your query letter sing
  • How being rejected by one agent can make you more desirable to others
  • What an agent will and won't do for you
  • Why a huge advance isn't always a good thing
