Have you ever wondered how books, new products, and businesses stand out from the glut of competition they face in today's marketplace? The answer to this question can be summed up in two words: effective marketing. This introduction to marketing course will help you build up your marketing tool kit whether you are looking to break into a marketing career or simply sharpen your skills.
We will cover the basics of marketing, including understanding the 4 P's (price, product, placement, and promotion) to conducting marketing research in order to better understand customers needs and wants.
In this class, you will learn about:
- Career opportunities in marketing
- How to write marketing plans
- The 4 P's of marketing and why understanding them helps to better market a product or service
- How marketing, advertising, and public relations come together in the marketing mix
- How to develop a SWOT analysis to pinpoint marketing objectives
- Consumer behavior and why consumers behave the way they do
- How to write clear, concise, and powerful marketing copy
- Ways to create comprehensive marketing plans
By the end of class, you will have: A marketing plan, a brochure, a postcard, and a developed SWOT analysis.
Admission Requirements: Please submit a letter of interest (including a brief work history).
The online classroom has several interactive components:
- Instructors post lectures once a week. You can read them online, print them, or download them at your convenience.
- Students post completed assignments for feedback and discussion by the instructor and class.
- Weekly chats allow your class to get together via instant message. Transcripts are available for review if you can't attend.
- Technical support is available from mediabistro.com staff.
