Recipe Writing
Craft recipes for magazines and cookbooks with award-winning cookbook author Corinne Trang
Course Details
Being able to provide well written, reliable, user-friendly recipes can exponentially increase a food writer's value to a magazine or cookbook editor. In this class, an accomplished cookbook author shows you how to enliven and perfect your recipe-writing skills. Whether you are a food writer looking to increase your marketability, a chef who is looking to expand or transition into food writing, or a home cook who simply wants to collect your own or someone else's recipes for family and friends to enjoy, this class will give you the knowledge and tools you need to create tempting and usable recipes. This class is chock full of tips, handouts, lists of resources, and in-class exercises to help you put what you learn into practice. Each student will be responsible for bringing 8 recipe ideas to class based on a theme. We will work on these recipes until they are publishable (complete with informative headnotes, an organized list of ingredients, and step-by-step instructions). Students will leave with a clear sense of how to turn recipes into publishable, cook-able recipes so that anyone can follow them successfully. Her articles have been published in Food & Wine, Bottom Line Personal, Health, Cooking Light, and Saveur. Testimonial Corinne is well versed in her field and went out of her way to offer out of class assistance via emails. I believe this greatly increased the value of her course. -Sarah Tarica |
