Course Details

Television is a producer's medium and being an executive producer entails a great deal more than occupying a spacious corner office, barking out orders, and collecting Emmys. How do you sell your idea and once you've sold it, what will being the show runner involve? What sort of work experience builds the skills required to become a show runner? How do you get your idea produced even if you don't yet have all this experience?

This seminar will tell you how to move up in this highly competitive industry and will address the combination of tried and true leadership techniques, management tactics, business savvy and creative chutzpah required to get the most out of your original concept.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • How to provide great creative leadership and build success
  • The best work experience to accumulate en route to becoming a show runner
  • Tips about the development/selling process
  • How to manage the network
  • Pointers on casting and hiring for excellence
  • Retaining rights (or not) and creative control
  • Networking leads and opportunities
