Many people yearn to write but feel stuck. Some can't seem to start the process, while others hit a wall and can't seem to finish. Through a better understanding of the creative process, a series of practical writing exercises and prompts, you will learn how to break though to the other side of writer's block. 
Many people get blocked because they do not understand how to channel their creativity onto the page and, on top of that, lack a consistent writing practice to keep them going when things get tough. In this class, you will learn to manage both. 
You will learn a process that will help you pinpoint your optimal writing conditions, structure your time and build a framework to increase your productivity. 

By the end of class, you will have:

Have an outline of your ideal essay, story, poem or piece of creative writing.

In this class, you will learn how to:

  • Write 15 minutes a day
  • Apply techniques used by professional writers and creativity experts
  • Implement tools such as Julia Camerons Morning Pages and The Artist's Date Book
  • Understand how to transform ideas into workable concepts on the page
  • Identify how to avoid common mistakes that keep people stuck

Jennifer Mattson is a writer and journalist. She teaches writing workshops and is a former producer for CNN, CNN International and National Public Radio. Her writing has appeared in,, USA TODAY, The Boston Globe,, The Women’s Review of Books, Ms. Magazine, and Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health where she is currently a Contributing Writer. She is the former Managing Editor of and recently returned from Hong Kong where she reported on Asia. During the 1990s, she worked as a foreign correspondent covering Central Europe.
