A big feature story can launch your career and lead to major opportunities (book deal, anyone?). The best feature writers make it seem easy, but like any form of journalism, a good feature takes skill. It requires a unique combination of organization, story-telling, relevancy, and humanity that separates it from other journalism.

It's not as hard as you'd imagine to break into the world of feature writing. Most of the strongest magazines accept cold pitches and are starved for artfully conceived articles.
