  • Wednesdays 6:45-9:45pm ET, 2 sessions full schedule

These days, the Internet is abuzz about storytelling.  But what does it take to tell a good story?  And how can you use stories in pitches and presentations while also getting your message across?

In this workshop, we’ll delve into the specific ways to incorporate storytelling into your personal and professional life.  First, we’ll examine the role of storytelling in business with an eye towards the world of media.  Then, students will put their newfound skills into practice with a series of improvisation, writing, and presentation exercises designed to help them uncover personal stories.  At the end of the second session, students will present and receive personalized feedback on ways to make their stories and pitches more effective.

By the end of class, you will have:

At least one story to share in a variety of settings and a deeper understanding of how to use storytelling to connect with clients and co-workers alike.

In this class, you will learn how to:

  • Uncover stories in everyday life
  • Identify the three types of stories in business
  • Hone and improve your listening
  • Incorporate stories into media work
  • Utilize relaxation techniques for pitching and performing

  • "Andrew's class is a perfect jump-starter on the art of storytelling and its diverse applications. I came away with solid tips for evaluating good stories, and insight into how to use those stories to engage business clients. His presenting exercises and one-on-one coaching helped sharpen my written/verbal pitching skills. He wrapped with a list of inspiring book recommendations, which I really appreciated. A great course topic, led by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic instructor."
