"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones National Association of Realtors is looking for a Community and Political Affairs Communications Rep. Brady Congrats His Post.com TeamFrom an internal note sent by washingtonpost.com's Jim Brady: washingtonpost.com won one Eppy at today's awards ceremony at the Editor & Publisher Interactive Media Conference in Miami. We won for Best Design for a Media-Affiliated Site, so a big congratulations to creative director Paul Compton and his talented team of designers. We won this award in 2005 as well. We had five overall nominations, two more than any other site, but didn't win any other categories: Our Jobs area was nominated for Best Classified Web Site, but dallasnews.com won. The Fix was up for Best Media Blog, but lost the The Swamp, produced by chicagotribune.com. We were nominated for Best Use of Video on a Web Site, but lost to cnn.com. The site was also looking to repeat as Best Newspaper-Affiliated Web Site, but nytimes.com was the winner. The good news is we'll be going to New York the week after next to pick up the Peabody Award we won last month. No suspense there. :-) Thanks, Jim >UPDATE: Says a reader, "isn't the bigger story not Brady's congratulatory email but that the Post was shut out of four nominations? It lost the blog category to the freakin' Chicago Tribune. Do they even have a website?" >UPDATE: See the full list of Eppy winners here. Email This Post |
