"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones U.S. News & World Report is looking for a Manager, Audience & Business Development - Money. Shea Named Post's Deputy Editor of Book WorldFrom an internal email, obtained by FishbowlDC: I'm delighted to report that effective Monday, Dec. 3, Rachel Hartigan Shea will be the new Deputy Editor of Book World. Rachel has been commandeering a wide range of cultural coverage for us since she joined Book World in 2005. In the short space of two years, she has made herself an indispensable part of the conceptualizing and engineering of the section. Juggling her many roles of assignment editor, ideas person, cultural maven, red-pencil nitpicker, and stylish reviewer, she has shown herself to have all the makings of a great deputy editor. We were fortunate to hire Rachel away from US News & World Report several years ago. Her editorial chops, graceful writing, perceptive observations, deep love of books, and easy collegiality are greatly valued by her colleagues, not only at Book World but throughout the world of book people, where she has made solid alliances. I greatly look forward to working closely with Rachel in her new position. Email This Post |
