Curl on FishbookDC: "Rebel" Without a Pause

Not to be outdone by the WaPo's Dana Milbank, TWT's Joe Curl weighed in on his loss in the "Biggest Rebel" category.

"This was no travesty, no mockery, no sham. Once a true rebel starts winning contests in the category, it's the beginning of the end. James Dean? Dead. Jimi Hendrix? Dead. Neidermeyer? Dead. Tom DeLay? For all intents and purposes, dead," Curl said.

"The true rebel doesn't wear a skull cap or mirror sunglasses (sorry John Stanton, if that is your real name). Instead, he mows the grass in shorts -- but wearing black socks. He drinks white wine -- but from the bottle. And he always - always - calls the other side to include in a story, unless that doesn't work so well in his piece or requires any sort of effort."

Milbank on his FishbookDC Upset to Crawford: "Travesty of a Mockery of a Sham of a Mockery of a Travesty of Two Mockeries of a Sham"

From Dana Milbank's noon chat today at washingtonpost.com:

Madisonville, Tenn.: Hi, Dana. Glad you're back and all that jazz. I have a question on a possibly touchy subject: that FishbookDC Klass Klown election thing. In the early going, you had a good lead on everybody but Matt Cooper, but Craig Crawford scored a come-from-behind that seemed to me to be the result of a well-oiled (well-balonied?) machine in operation. Do you think you needed your own well-balonied machine in action? Just sayin'

washingtonpost.com: Your 2009 FishbookDC!!!

Dana Milbank: This is a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.

I was seriously disadvantaged in this competition by being on vacation. Had I been on the job, I believe I could have done many buffoonish things that would have won the prize for sure.

Your 2009 FishbookDC!!!

"All Access" Endorses McFly in the Tapper v. Tommy Competition

Campaigns are in full swing for FishbowlDC's "FishbookDC: Summer Superlatives." For instance, Mix 107.3's Tommy McFly who began his radio career at just 15 years old has officially been endorsed by radio industry bible "All Access." Tommy is currently in pursuit of Jake Tapper, the dapper ABC White House correspondent who rose to the top from humble beginnings at the Washington City Paper.

*Interesting note. Tapper was also nominated for "Hardest Working" and "Biggest Heartthrob" but the official FishbookDC advisory panel suggested limiting each media personality (with exception of the "Cutest Couples") to one category each. In short, even if Jake loses his "Most Ambitious" crown, he likely deserves special recognition as "Best All-Around."

Stinkin' Military Time...

Stinking military time... For those of you who got a "polls closed" message when attempting to vote for "Cutest Couple," our apologies. I mistakenly entered 11.59 rather than 23.59. The problem has been remedied. Vote away!

FishbookDC Class of 2009: Early Projections

Most Likely to be a Headline
After all these years, Cox still rocks your socks. Air America's Ana Marie Cox is devastating the competition with almost 60% of the vote.

Most Ambitious
Early projections show that this one is going to come down to ABC golden boy, Jake Tapper and boy wonder Tommy McFly of Mix 107.3. Tapper's got Tommy by 10% but we've got 24 hours of voting to go.

Most Mysterious
Dave Hughes aka "DCRTV Dave" is dominating this category with a strong lead and good voter turnout. Well played, Dave.

Most Likely to Join the Administration
No surprises here. MSNBC's Chris Matthews & HuffPo's Nico Pitney have remained in a dueling lead.

Most Competitive
Only I can see the actual vote count but it's pretty pathetic for a category honoring allegedly "competitive" journos. A few votes could swing this election either way. For now, WaPo's Chris Cillizza and Politico's Glenn Thrush are nearly tied up. That said, if we don't see some action soon, we'll be forced to rename the category "All Talk and No Walk."

Biggest Rebel
Only 5% of the vote separates rebellious writers John Stanton of Roll Call and Julie Mason of the Examiner.

Hardest Working
Voters are working overtime for CNN's Wolf Blitzer and Roll Call's Shira Toeplitz. These two have led the pack all day. For now, Blitzer's got first place but it's still anyone's game.

Class Clown
CQ's Craig Crawford came out of nowhere to take the lead over WaPo's Dana Milbank and TPM's Matt Cooper but there are no winners yet. A little campaigning or a good practical joke could tip the scales in any clown's favor.

Biggest Heartthrob: The Ladies
Oh my goff! It's a battle royale between WUSA-9's Angie Goff and CNN's Brianna Keilar but for now, Goff's in the lead.

Biggest Heartthrob: The Guys
NBC's resident hunk, Luke Russert has held on to first place but a good showing from supporters of WaPo's Dan Zak and CQ's Phil Mattingly are keeping things interesting.

Cutest Couple
NPR's Geoff Bennett & HuffPo/People's Beth Perry are leading with 25% of the vote but the competition is fierce. CNN's dynamic duo John King & Dana Bash, TWT's Sonny Bunch & Roll Call's Elizabeth Brotherton and Bloomberg's Tim Burger & Examiner's Kiki Ryan are hot in pursuit.

You can vote for your favorites in every category after the jump.

FishbookDC Day 1 Down: "The Mosts"

fbookdc.gif

Voting for the first five categories of FishbookDC 2009's Summer Superlatives has been open for only 24 hours but the competition is well on its way. Here's how things are playing out:

MOST COMPETITIVE
It's no surprise that the competition is ferocia in the "Most Competitive" category. Politico's Glenn Thrush and WaPo's Chris Cillizza are tickity-tack tied up for the first place spot. Roll Call's Jackie Kucinich is tailing them and she's not apologizing for it.

MOST AMBITIOUS
In the "Most Ambitious" category, ABC's Jake Tapper is killing it with 43% of the votes. Mix 107.3's boy wonder - Tommy McFly has managed to pull into second with 20%...

HEADLINER
Ana Marie Cox is dominating with 62% of the votes for "Most Likely to be a Headline."

MOST MYSTERIOUS
With 55% of the vote, DCRTV webmyster webmaster Dave Hughes is leading Politico's Mike Allen in the "Most Mysterious" category.

MOST LIKELY TO TAKE A GIG W/ THE ADMIN
You've got HuffPo's Nico Pitney and MSNBC's Chris Matthews running neck-and-neck in this category.

We've just opened up the other 5 categories for your input but you've got less than 48 hours to cast your votes! All polls close at 11.59 PM on Thursday and the winners of 2009's FishbookDC will be announced on Friday.

You can vote for all the "Mosts" after the jump or by scrolling through the posts on the blog.
