The Washington Post's Mike Shepard, who lost his house to fire recently, sent the following note, obtained by FishbowlDC, to WaPo staffers:

To our Washington Post friends and colleagues:

Sonia, Thomas and I would like to express our deep and heartfelt gratitude for your love and support since a fire devastated our home two weeks ago. Our family is now on the road to recovery, and so much of the credit for that goes to you. We are humbled by your boundless generosity and remain forever grateful to the entire Washington Post family for standing beside us in our darkest hour.
