We've already declared the Washington Times' Russ McCracken as owner of the coolest journalist name in D.C.
What we want to know is...
...is he related to journo Harry McCracken?
...how about Ernie McCracken?

Not related to either the first McCracken or the fictional McCracken -- nor to Jeff McCracken at the Detroit Free Press, about whom I'm asked on occasion. Not to thoroughly disappoint you, though, I can trace my family back to a well-known Indiana University basketball player who later coached the Hoosiers to two NCAA Championships and who has an even cooler name than mine: Branch McCracken.
