Woodward & Dowd & TenetRowr. Woodward disputed the impression that he was, in fact, a friend of Tenet's. "I've always kept a real distance," he said. "I never went to his house, never socialized at all. I maybe went to one party or two while he was there. I don't want to belabor the point, but Maureen Dowd was complaining that Tenet socialized with Woodward and now Woodward's acting like a meanie." Dowd, in a recent column, wrote, in a mocking imitation of Tenet, "The worst meanie was horrid Bob Woodward. Slam"--Dowd's name for Tenet--"socialized with Bob and gave him lots of intel for his best sellers, but then Bob 'painted a caricature of me leaping into the air and simulating a slam dunk, not once but twice, with my arms flailing.'"
