The Washington Times announced today some of the planned changes we reported on recently during our conversation with Executive Editor John Solomon.

Some of the highlights:

• Exciting changes are starting today for our readers. The Washington Times begins a new publication schedule to ensure that more readers in the metropolitan region will get the latest news, sports scores and photos in the newspaper that arrives on their doorsteps each morning.

  In fact, we're doubling the number of households in the Washington area that will receive the two-star edition, the last and most current edition to come off the presses each night. Now, most households north of Richmond and south of Baltimore will get the freshest news — including late election results, Redskins and Nationals scores and fast-breaking developments around the globe.

• Also on the horizon is a new look for the daily newspaper to better showcase our distinctive coverage of politics, national security, international affairs and cultural issues, and our opinion, editorial and commentary about the things you really care about -- freedom, faith, family and service to others. The changes include an entirely new look on Sunday and opportunities every day to jump from the print edition to the Web site to gain more information and insight.
