Washington Times 25th Bash For Less Important People

(You'll recall that most Times employees weren't invited to their main bash.)

A notice sent to Times employees:

Dear Colleagues, Our 25th Anniversary Employee Celebration is just around the corner and promises to be an unforgettable summer evening party with dinner (barbecue, chicken, salmon, etc.), music and dance for all to enjoy. The celebration will held at the Arbor Ballroom this Saturday (June 16th) from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. All employees are encouraged to bring one adult guest, and you must register before this Wednesday and receive tickets through your department head. The music for the event will be performed live by the fabulous HitTime dance band (www.hit-time.com).

But then this was also sent out:

COME TO THE PARTY!!!! This is a friendly reminder that you and an adult guest are most cordially invited to The Washington Times' glorious celebration of its 25th anniversary THIS SATURDAY EVENING from 7 to 11 p.m. in our Ballroom. Please register!!!! We are extending the time to RSVP in order to accommodate everyone possible (already we have over 450 responses). Remember that there is shuttle bus service from Union Station (6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. pick-up at Union Station); there's delicious BBQ ribs, poultry and salmon featuring our exclusive Brighter Bolder Barbeque Sauce; there's an open bar; and there is dancing with the fabulous HitTime dance band (have you filled out your requests on the special email survey line?). This is a great chance to celebrate the past 25 years and to celebrate our future! Each department will distribute tickets to those who have registered. If, for some reason, you do not receive your tickets before the party Saturday, and have registered, you make pick up your tickets at the party. But don't delay! This is the event of the year, and we know you will absolutely love it!

This caused one employee to sarcastically quip, "it's so hot, they're begging people to come!"

Obviously, we expect FishbowlDC readers to send in lots of pictures and stories.

The best part, however, is this (from the first announcement above):

To help make our celebration the best ever, we've created a unique way in which you can help pick the music for the evening through our very own 25th Anniversary Employee Celebration music survey. If you would like to help choose the music, you can log into a specially created website and choose favorite tunes in various categories. Once the voting has stopped, we'll choose the top 20 songs for the band to play during the evening!

Problem is: The site's been down for days.

So why don't we help out: What songs should they play at the Washington Times' 25th Anniversary Bash (for employees)?
