Dating in the '70s
Apologies for not posting this earlier in the day, but the NY Post's Rush and Molloy column today demonstrates that D.C. is just too small.
The item concerns the brief relationship between long-time op-ed page writer Maureen Dowd and brand spanking new op-ed page writer John Tierney during the '70s:
The two started dating back in 1979, when they were reporters for the Washington Star. Writing for a women's magazine, Dowd said she knew the end was near when she found a little black dress that wasn't her size in Tierney's closet. "[He told] me we weren't getting married because he was involved with a rich, beautiful woman, and anyhow, he had never really loved me."
The two new neighbors issued a joint statement saying, "We have agreed not to publish any embarrassing revelations about each other, unless one of us gets really, really desperate for a column."
That said, if you're looking for a reason why the relationship fell apart you perhaps need to look no further than Rob Corddry's comments to Jay Rosen on the Daily Show last night....
