"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones

Tucker Thinking About Radio?

From a reader (on Friday):

Tucker Carlson in meeting today with Greg Tantum at 3WT.

Overheard in the newsroom as Carlson was recognized by
    workers:

Unnamed employee: "you look so familiar to me"
Carlson: "why yes, I'm Tucker Carlson."
Unnamed employee: "OH! That's right! You were on Dancing with the Stars!"
    Carlson: "um. yeah."

UPDATE: DCRTV notes that he urged 3WT to take on Carlson back in February.

2/19 - A few thoughts on Tony Kornheiser's return to his morning radio show after a half-a-year away, doing "Monday Night Football." Honestly, it sounds as though Tony's aged six years, not the six months since leaving Washington Post Radio last June, which became 3WT during his absense. The 8 AM show, resurrected in January, reminds me of a visit to Leisure World to visit gramps. It can be a rather pleasant and nostalgic experience, but not something I'd care to do every morning. Last year, it was "old guy radio." And, this year, it sounds like "older guy radio." Bonneville's 3WT is a mystery. It needs a coherent, logical morning show. Dividing time between David Burd and Jessica Doyle's under-promoted 5:30 AM show and Kornheiser's 8 AM heavily-hyped show makes no sense. Especially with the strong possibility that Kornheiser will be gone again for "MNF" come June. And to have no live and local afternoon drive show? How about Tucker Carlson or Paul Harris or Mike O'Meara! It's kind of sad to see the ratings geniuses behind all-news sister WTOP continuing to drive new talker 3WT into that muddy ditch.
