Scooter Libby ain't getting nothing from nobody, well except for anything he wants from Bob Woodward. NBC News, The New York Times, and Time all filed federal court motions yesterday to block subpoenas from Libby's lawyers for interview notes, article drafts, and "other records" as part of Libby's prosecution for his role in the Valerie Plame leak investigation, according to the NYT and Reuters.

As Time wrote, "Although Mr. Libby has claimed a right to know what information the press corps in general possessed concerning Mrs. Wilson's affiliation with the C.I.A., under that theory he would be entitled to subpoena all reporters in Washington to learn what they knew, and when they knew it.... There is no stopping point to this approach."

At the same time, the Post announced that it had turned over notes requested by Libby from Woodward. "This action did not pose legal or journalistic concerns to The Post or Mr. Woodward," the paper said.

If those actions don't pose any legal or journalistic concerns, which does seem plausible since it's just Woodward's notes on talking with the person who asked for the notes, what about maybe releasing the same memo to the public? Woodward's role in all of this has been hazy at best and the memo could clear up exactly what he was told by Libby.

Or maybe we can just wait for Murray Waas to get ahold of it.
